Ma graduated from the School of Drama, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) degree majoring in acting.
 
During her study, she received Outstanding Actor Award for her role in The Children's Hour, and she also participated in other performances such as Vision Party.

Ma received Outstanding Young Actor Award, and was nominated for Best Actress (Tragedy/Drama) for her performance in Sunday in the Park with George at Hong Kong Drama Awards in 2008.
