Riceballer is a non-profit arts unit founded by Artistic Director Jen Lam in 2013. Lam has written, directed, and performed in numerous woman-solo productions, with A Diary of a Girl’s Happiness achieving nine successful runs to critical acclaim.
 
Riceballer explores the creative possibilities of women’s theatre in Hong Kong, drawing inspiration from the lives of modern women. Its works reflect on how tradition, gender, and family values shape identity and selfhood. Beyond creation, the unit is equally committed to arts education and outreach, offering theatre workshops and talks in partnership with universities, schools, and women’s groups. Its Drama Queen Workshop is Hong Kong’s first all-female solo performance workshop, empowering nearly one hundred women to write and direct their own stories.
