In this digital generation, it feels like everyone can become part of the media. But in reality, information is manipulated. How can an ordinary person distinguish truth from falsehood? And what price does he/she have to pay to defend the truth?
Playwright Kwok Wing-hong received a phone call from a girlfriend working in the mainland on the eve of his graduation from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She persuaded him to travel to an unfamiliar city to see for himself the results of her ‘field trip’ over the past few months: a gold-plated scheme with a ‘national-class investment’ at its heart; an MLM (pyramid-selling) event. With an initial investment of 69,800 yuan, he could earn 10.4 million.
