The Phenomenon of Man : REVOLVER
The phenomenon of man: Revolver is the second piece of a trilogy following The phenomenon of man: Reflector. It all starts from The Phenomenon of Man (Le phénomène humain) written by the French philosopher Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. In this second episode, it further elaborates the concept of connectivity among everything in the universe, and how evolution happens collectively. This is Hong Kong in 2021, the city is at a collective "sequel syndrome" after experiencing "the Umbrella Movement" in 2014. With 3 intersecting storylines: the Russian Revolution; Beijing in 1939; and Hong Kong in 2021, it captures and presents the current state of a depressing undertone.

The phenomenon of man: Revolver by Wu King Yeung is quite an ambitious work. By foiling or plugging in different time and space, it precisely presents the current notion of our time. Sometimes lyrical, sometimes thoughtful, sometimes contemplative, Wu’s focuses not only on here and now, but on the future and the universe.
