On the outskirts of a hustle and bustle city, an abandoned warehouse is located in disused harbor. Maurice Koch, a white businessman arrives with his assistant Monique, attempting suicide for unknown reasons. Charles, the second generation of illegal immigrants, rescues Koch and carries him ashore. This seemingly good act is witnessed by his parents, Cecile and Rodolfe, who spend their lives in this country of filth and are now forming their own plot. Fak arrives with Charles' sister, Claire, trying to seduce her in the hangar. Charles threatens to beat her up if she goes with Fak…

Koltes' masterpiece, set in a film noir location, was written in a heightened poetic style. Often consisting of long monologues, the play depicts the encounter of lost souls and the transactions of human relations as the currency of survival.
