WANG Haoran
A playwright and director, his plays Blast (2013) and Red Chamber in the Concrete Forest (2014) have appeared at the Hong Kong Arts Festival. The play The Stranger (2016) premiered and ran for 40 performances at the Shanghai Dramatic Art Center, to rave reviews.   His credits as a director include Short-sightedness (2014 Shanghai International Art Festival), and The Black and Blue of a Man (2019 Nanshan Drama Festival).
 
Originally from Hunan, he is fluent in Cantonese, English, Mandarin and Hunan dialect. Relying on his personal experience and background, his sharp and profound humour have informed his unique approach to interpreting cultural differences and phenomena.  He graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a M.A. (Hons) in the dramatic arts.   In 2014, he was awarded the Asian Culture Association award which funded an exchange visit to the United States.  His 2016 play Game Boy  was selected for the New Playwriting Scheme at the Royal Court Theatre in the United Kingdom.
