LAI Yuk-ching
Graduated from the School of Drama at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Lai was the recipient of Scholarships at the Academy and was awarded Outstanding Actress twice. She also attended the Beijing International Symposium on Acting Training with Theatre Showcase 2005, and received a Brilliant Performance Award for her work Phaedra. She was the full-time actor-researcher of Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio.
Recent performances include Tang Shu-wing Theatre Studio's Dead man’s cell phone, Macbeth (Taipei, Guang Zhou, Hong Kong re-run, Europe tour), Detention (4th run),Titus2.0 (Hong Kong, Singapore, Norway, Poland Beijing and Taiwan), the World Shakespeare Festival of the Globe Theatre, the 2012 London Cultural Olympiad Titus Andronicus. Hong Kong Repertory Theatre’s Pride, On & On Theatre Workshop’s Tetê bêche,The Plot, Fragments of Stones and Gold, The City. Littlebreath Creative Workshop’s Kassandra oder die Welt als Ende der Vorstellung, Hong Kong Federation of Drama Societies’ XiaoJing Hutong, All My Sons (1st & rerun), Hong Kong Arts Festival’s A Floating Family (a trilogy), New Vision Arts Festival’s Utopia Momentarily, Big Stage Theatre’s Post The Taming of The Shrew.
Lai was a recipient of the 14th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards, Award for Young Artist (Drama). She was also awarded Performer of the Year at the IATC(HK) Critics Awards, for Macbeth 2018. In 2015, Lai was awarded Best Actress at the Hong Kong Theatre Libre, for her performance in The City. She was also nominated for the Best Actress (Tragedy / Drama) at the 18th, 20th Hong Kong Drama Awards and the 1st, 2nd and 11th Hong Kong Theatre Libre.
She is also the member of Encounter Playback Theatre, and the leadership graduate of Centre for Playback Theatre in UK.
